I graduated from the University of Redlands with a BA in Creative Writing in 2010 (after never having taken a photography class!).
I first discovered my writing ability at the age of 12 in 8th grade and it's since then become a major part of my life. However, as I grew older and developed more as a person, I began to realize that, despite the power of the written word, it personally wasn't enough for me to express everything that I wanted to express. And so at 18 I began learning photography from my then-roommate and still-good-friend, Alex Grummer. Now, at 23, photography has become the alternate--but complimentary--half of my artistic life.
What I love most about photography is the mindset required to take truly good photos. It's easy to buy top-of-the-line equipment and produce decent work, but to be an artist in this medium requires something that can't be bought: the ability to be fully present in the moment. Hence the title of this website. The moment is where art happens. It's all the camera can see. And it should be the same for the person using the camera. This is the philosophy I live as a photographer--and as a human being.
Enjoy the moment. It's all we really have.
